OGC Established
The agreement was established by the OGC in 2006 and has delivered real cashable savings to the users of the service. In fact, Ken Cole, Director of SPS Consultancy, highlighted the translation services framework in his presentation entitled - Delivering Results. In it he stated Local Authorities and Councils who are using the pan-Government agreement for translation services are experiencing a 30% saving.
Not only Translation Services
It sometimes surprises people by the depth of services we offer to support translation. It is our company's aim to provide a solution to any communication issue that the public sector faces today, because of this we have developed the following;
- Translation. Conversion of text from one language into another. It can be sent to us as paper, MS Word, pdf, email and most other formats. We will return it in any language requested. We have a variety of service levels/turnaround times open to the Government.
- Interpreting. We can provide you with interpreters for face to face meetings, conferences, medical briefings, presentations and many other uses. We can supply British Sign Language Interpreters. If requested we can supply security cleared interpreters - please contact us with details of your project.
- Telephone Interpreting. With a network of 1000s of telephone interpreters available we are able to connect you to a telephone interpreter in under 60 seconds.
- Voice-overs. Professional multilingual voice-over talents can be sourced to produce audio versions of any written document. This will be returned in a format compatible with your system or incorporated into a larger project. A good example of the diversity that can be achieved by using this service is the work that we have produced for the Scottish Prison Service.
- Linguistic Analysis. Used to determine the validity of someone's claim of nationality. Our team of Linguistic Analysts will interview a person to cross reference their knowledge of a local area and use of accents/local dialects to validate their claim of nationality. This service is used throughout the developed world in asylum cases.
- Transcription. Sound files or audio recordings can be sent to us in any language to be transcribed. These will be returned as an English MS Word document. We currently provide all of the UK Prisons with a guaranteed 48 hour turnaround service for urgent requests.
- Publications/Leaflets. Forms and leaflets are produced by using a combination of the skills in our design studio and the translation department. Files can either be generated by a designer chosen by you or designed from brief/template by us. We have all of the latest studio software and work on both PC and Mac platforms. Work can be returned to you ready for print - or even printed.
- Multilingual Websites. We can develop, translate, proofread and test your website.
- Video Editing. This service includes Videos (or DVDs) that require translating. This can take the form of re-recording the voice-overs or producing subtitles. DVDs are returned ready for production/distribution.
- Braille. Any document can be converted into Braille. Most documents are bound in plastic combs and are available in various sizes. Covers can be designed as well – please specify this at time of ordering.
- Large Print. Documents can be translated using the large print guidelines making them available for people with poor vision.
- EasyRead. Designed to allow people with learning difficulties access to the same information as everyone else.
