Telephone Interpreting
Interpreting is a highly bespoke service which must be carefully matched to the event in question. However, sometimes translation needs are urgent or unpredictable – medical situations, sudden business interest, or an enquiry from a customer or member of the public who doesn't speak your language. In these cases, our telephone interpreting service can provide a quick and cost-effective solution – often in under a minute.
How it works
It's a very simple system – during setup we give you a freephone telephone number and a security PIN. Whenever you need an interpreter, you just need to call the number and provide your PIN code, along with information about the language you require, and what the call will involve (for example, whether the interpreter needs to have medical or legal knowledge). You will then be connected to the interpreter you require – this often takes less than thirty seconds, and is under a minute in almost all cases.
The preferred method for connecting you is via a three-way conference call, although if the other person is in the same place as you it is perfectly possible to simply pass the phone back and forth. You can use the service as much or as little as you need – you are only billed for the time you are connected to an interpreter, and there are no minimum charges.
Find out more
In November 2007, we relaunched telephone-interpreting.com, our mini-site about the service. The site includes a lot of useful resources for clients who use the service (or those who are interested in finding out more) including downloadable guides and printable media. There is also an animated guide to the service and how it works – if you're interested in learning more about telephone interpreting, it's a pretty good place to start!
