Multilingual Typesetting

In many cases, a document has already been designed, signed off, and even sent to print in its native language, before the decision has been made to translate. In these cases, our multilingual typesetting service can be used to quickly and effectively broaden the potential audience of your material.

The process

Our multilingual studio is fully equipped with up-to-date industry standard design software – including Adobe Creative Suite and Quark – as well as many less standard tools. This means that no matter what format your original artwork is in, we should be able to handle it. Once we've completed work on the artwork, we can also send it back in any format you require. For print (or downloadable web documents) this will usually be in PDF format – particularly useful for translating layouts as it allows the embedding of fonts within the document. However, we are also happy to return the layouts as image files, or even collected InDesign or Quark files, depending on your requirements.

Your brand

We take great care to make sure that the translated versions of your material match the original as closely as possible. At the simplest level, this includes finding typefaces that complement your branding, across the whole range of languages, or making sure that the feel of your layout is maintained – even with material that requires a right-to-left version. If the project is intended to target new overseas market, we can also provide cultural understanding advice, to confirm that your identity is suitable for use in those territories.

Document consistency

In projects where the original document is being translated into multiple languages, it is often important to maintain consistency between versions as far as possible. This is particularly important in print booklets and leaflets, where the different languages may be displayed side-by-side to the public, or for downloadable web PDFs, which may have example pages present on the same download page. Our studio is capable of maintaining a good level of consistency, even where the project requires a wide selection of languages.

Accessibility

You may wish to also consider other formats for your documents, making them available to other groups within your target audience. Our studio team is capable of applying the same standards and procedures to other types of document, allowing you to offer large print, easyRead, or Braille versions of your promotional material to those who need it.

Print design

If you haven't designed your material yet, we also offer a print design service. Our designers will work closely with you to create top-quality promotional material which will be effective in any language - allowing you greater cost-effectiveness and control than you would have with a seperate agency, without concessions to quality.
